Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation and Deputy Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation are appointed and released from their duties respectively by the State Duma, and by the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation as advised by the President of the Russian Federation. One half of Auditors of the Accounts Chamber are appointed and released from their duties by the State Duma, and the other half – by the Federation Council as advised by the President of the Russian Federation.

The term of office of the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber, the Deputy Chairman of the Accounts Chamber and Auditors is 6 years. The activities of the Accounts Chamber cannot be suspended because of the dissolution of the State Duma.
