In 1972-1986, worked at Voskhod Research Institute, All-Russia Scientific-Research Institute of Economy of Mineral Resources and Geological and Prospecting Works, CentrEVMcomplex Production Association, Moscow.
1986-1991, Deputy Head, then Head of the Central Department of the USSR State Committee for Computer Engineering and Computer Science.
1991-1992, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the State Association for Information Technologies, Software, Servicing of Computer Systems and Means and Computer Techniques.
1992-1993, Director General of the Moscow production association for computer techniques and computer science.
From 1993 until 2001 worked at the Main Control Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation: Deputy Chief of the Directorate – Section Chief, Chief of the Department for Inspection of Government Executive Bodies, Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate – Chief of the Department for Inspection of Government Executive Bodies.
On January 31, 2001 the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation appointed A.N. Semikolennykh Deputy Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation.
On 9 February 2005 he was released from his duties before time, and subsequently he was reappointed Deputy Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, as advised by the President of the Russian Federation.
