In order to enhance the efficiency of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation much work has been done over the last year to improve cooperation with the bodies of state power. The management of the Accounts Chamber and the law-enforcement bodies have undertaken a number of measures to put such cooperation on a permanent and systematic basis.

The Accounts Chamber has signed agreements of cooperation and joint work with a number of law-enforcement bodies and other organs of state power.

With regard to the Joint Decision made with the General Procurator of the Russian Federation in 1999, a departmental normative base has been established for organizing such cooperation. In 2000, a decision was taken by the joint board of the General Procurator of the Russian Federation and the Accounts Chamber, which was entitled "On the cooperation of the procurator organs and the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation". Together with this, a joint order has been issued.

One of the chief concerns of the Accounts Chamber is to secure the effective cooperation with control and accounting organs of the subjects of the Russian Federation.

At present operative in the Russian Federation are 88 regional control and audit organs, 26 of which have been formed within the legislative organs of the subjects of the Russian Federation and 62 are independent control and audit organs.

The work relating to cooperation of the Accounts Chamber with control and accounting organs of the subjects of the Russian Federation is mainly carried out according to agreements for cooperation on the basis of standard documentation forms approved by the Board of the Accounts Chamber.
